I'm a Life Coach, a Relationship and Spiritual Coach, a Licensed
Psychotherapist, an Attorney (inactive), a Published Writer and a
Motivational Speaker, with over 16 years of experience in Counseling,
Coaching and Psychotherapy.
I’ve appeared on Radio Talk Shows (Click here to listen to my radio interviews, then click "continue...") and am the featured writer of a holistic magazine relationship column. I facilitate a weekly support group for those in the throes of separation or divorce, facilitated A Course In Miracles study group, and have given talks and led workshops on spirituality, psychology, improving couples’ relationships, stress reduction with progressive relaxation, guided imagery, meditation, and “Emotional Freedom Technique”, a type of energy psychology. I was interviewed for two internet television segments on “Dealing with Angry Teens” and “An Introduction to A Course In Miracles”. As a Certified Employee Assistance Professional, I have run workshops and seminars in corporations, have been a Consultant to Senior Management of Fortune 500 Corporations, and have led Supervisory Trainings and Workshops. In addition, I've facilitated Critical Incident Stress Debriefings for victims of traumas ranging from bank robberies to the tragedy of September 11th, 2001.
Having a Relationship and Life Coach who is also a trained, experienced Psychotherapist gives you the best of both worlds: Years of clinical training and experience, together with a myriad of skill sets and techniques that can be applied in the coaching relationship without the downsides of traditional psychotherapy.
I provide solution-focused Life Coaching, Marriage Counseling and Coaching, Relationship Coaching, Job/Career and Organizational Coaching, and Spiritual Coaching. To learn more about the gamut of services that I offer, click on the SERVICES heading at the top of this page. My writings, public speaking, and practice are informed by the principles of A Course In Miracles, The Law of Attraction, and other spiritual teachings.
My personal mission is to help individuals, couples and families realize their potential and their goals, achieving them by creating and following a clearly defined plan of action. In this way, my clients are empowered to create healthy relationships and a balanced, satisfying life.
My approach is direct and hands-on. I have a background in, and have been trained as a psychotherapist. However, most often, I work as a Relationship & Life Coach who will work with you, step by step, to move you towards your desired objectives. In my view, traditional psychotherapy so often misses the mark; in fact, it often keeps people “stuck” in their problems. I often assign "homework" so that clients are actively working between sessions. And I'm there to hold clients accountable and to help them stay abreast of their progress and work through challenges along the way.
Why Life Coaching or Relationship Coaching and Not Psychotherapy?
Life and Relationship Coaches help people discover what they want in life and in their marriages and relationships, unlock their own brilliance, and achieve their goals. Coaching is a relationship which focuses on clients taking ACTION toward the realization of their visions, goals, and desires. It uses a powerful process of inquiry and personal discovery to build a client's level of awareness and responsibility, and provides the client with structure, support, and feedback. The coaching process helps clients define and achieve personal and professional goals faster and with more ease than would be possible through many other approaches.
In Relationship Coaching and Life Coaching, the focus is on the present and the future, not the past. The goals, dreams, and visions drive the relationship and the action taken. Coaches help people design their future rather than get over their past. Coaches aid clients in creating visions and goals for ALL aspects of their lives and strategies to achieve them. Coaches provide their clients with support, accountability, and unconditional positive regard in a sacred, committed, helping relationship.
Most significantly, unlike traditional psychotherapy, with Life Coaching and Relationship Coaching:
- The focus is on the present and the future, not the past;
- The goal is not to "fix" a problem, but to CREATE a better situation;
- The relationship is collaborative and ongoing until the client feels that his or her goals have been met; the coach is seen as a partner and co-creator to support the client's growth and to hold the client accountable for those desired goals.
I provide TELEPHONE COACHING SESSIONS ALL ACROSS THE U.S.A. and I encourage the use of phone sessions because of the many clinical and pragmatic benefits that it provides.
