Psychotherapy

People come to me complaining that they've fallen into a hole and they don't know how to get out.   Sometimes people are in so much pain that their sleep is very disturbed or they can't bring themselves to eat.   Sometimes the stress produces just the opposite - compulsive eating and weight gain.  Or maybe it's led to "hitting the bottle" or other addictive behaviors.  Sometimes the stress can just lead to a level of anger that feels unbearable and that's affecting your home life, your relationship with your kids, or your job.  Getting out of bed in the morning can feel almost impossible.  Often the feelings are so overwhelming that it's hard to focus at work or to take care of ordinary responsibilities, like paying the bills or taking care of the kids.

In some cases it's easy to see what triggered the feelings.  Perhaps there was a death of someone close, a divorce or separation, or the loss of a job.  Sometimes after a death or the loss of a partner, the grief, guilt, and fear can be absolutely overwhelming.  Or it could be that the financial stress is just too much.  Maybe there was or still is an abusive relationship. In other cases, dealing with your children or your in-laws can be a major challenge.  In other cases, it may seem like the depression, sadness, anxiety or panic just "came out of the blue."

Regardless of your situation, I will help, using my best skills and state-of-the-art techniques to get you out of the hole and "unstuck".

Hypnotherapy / Guided Imagery & Meditation

One effective technique involves "hypnotherapy". Hypnotherapy involves working with an individual in a state of high relaxation and focus. Under these conditions ones brain waves are operating at a diferent frequency and one is more susceptible to both uncovering (discovering) underlying and unconscious feelings as well as more receptive to the introduction of new or alternative ways of experiencing a situation. "Guided imagery" or visualization is particularly helpful, under these conditions, as a means to either re-experiencing an event or circumstance in a new light, or to creating a desired situation or outcome in ones life.

Meditation is an extremely effective and powerful tool to achieve a myriad of positive results including inner peace, increased relaxation, self-confidence, and an ability to "let go" of ones ego or "addiction to thinking". I teach and lead meditation where I feel that would be a useful tool for a client.

“Therapy with you enabled my husband and I to address specific issues in our relationship and address overall patterns preparing for marriage… Our experience was very positive.”  The part of the coaching/therapy that really worked for Lauren was,   “Using the Imago technique, meditation, role-playing, your willingness to request and use different approaches at our request.”  Lauren described David and his work as an “individual/couple/family therapist who’s very approachable & down to earth and employs a variety of techniques to address specific problems or enhance interactions.”
